Jane Dearwester

Jane is based in our Hendersonville, North Carolina office. She brings with her 20 years of experience practicing law in Western North Carolina. Jane was born and raised in central Ohio and attended The College of Wooster majoring in political science with a minor in philosophy. Jane graduated from Duquesne Law School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After law school, Jane moved to North Carolina and has extensive experience with real estate closings and civil litigation. During the housing crisis of the late 2000s, Jane assisted homeowners, investors, and consumers in debt-related litigation against banks and lending institutions in state and federal courts. Jane developed and ran her own state-wide law firm focused on foreclosure defense and consumer rights litigation from 2009 – 2014.

Jane enjoys helping clients understand their legal rights and navigate the litigation process. She assists McIntyre Elder Law’s clients with their probate, trust, and other elder law litigation matters. Jane is a compassionate professional and considers her job as an attorney as one of service. She is especially passionate about assisting low-income clients and those in need, including veterans. Jane has been a Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyer (MAVL) through Pisgah Legal Services for many years.

Ms. Dearwester is also a North Carolina licensed real estate broker (2019) which further allows her to assist clients with real property planning & valuation, asset transfers, and other real estate related issues. Jane is licensed to practice law in Kentucky (2022), and Tennessee (2025). During her personal time, Jane enjoys nature, hiking, yoga, and traveling. She is the proud mother of a teenager. Jane resides in Weaverville, North Carolina where the beauty of the blue ridge mountains is on constant display.
