I recently celebrated my 24th wedding anniversary with my incredible wife, Stefanie. This milestone has led me to reflect on the extraordinary journey we’ve embarked on together: raising our six unique children, chasing our passions, and growing our law firm. It’s been an adventure, punctuated with life lessons that have shaped us and our family.
One principle Stefanie and I hold dear is fostering individuality in our children. We’ve always encouraged them to pursue their own paths and are incredibly proud of the distinct directions each of them is taking.
Take my oldest son, Jordan, for example. He recently wrapped up his second year of law school and is already showing his mettle at our family firm, McIntyre Elder Law. While I’ve never wanted to push any of my children to follow in my footsteps, seeing Jordan’s genuine pursuit of a law career is heartening.
Our firm, McIntyre Elder Law, has been expanding rapidly. We now have offices in Shelby, Charlotte, and Hendersonville. The growth of the firm not only gives me a sense of accomplishment as a business owner but also fills me with joy as a father. I’ve come to see the firm as an extension of our family, a feeling shared by our dedicated team.
During this reflective period, I’ve also been sharing some advice on the value of planning, the importance of striving for excellence, and the necessity of finding balance amidst the whirlwind of modern life. Life isn’t perfect, and neither are our decisions. But what matters is making the most of every situation and always striving to do our best.
How do I manage the stress that comes with the territory? Exercise. I can’t stress enough the importance of my gym workouts in maintaining my mental clarity and helping me juggle my roles as a father, husband, and business owner.
The message I’d like to share is simple: While life and the decisions we make are never perfect, we can always strive to do our best. Whether that’s through nurturing your children’s individuality, embracing the adventure of marriage, or finding a sense of balance in life, it’s the journey that truly matters.
